A coat worn over normal clothes does a lot of quiet work: it keeps the wearer's own clothing clean, gives a consistent professional look to visitors and auditors, carries a name and a role at a glance, and comes off quickly at a door or a wash-down point. What it needs to protect against, and whether a coat is the right choice at all, is a decision for your own risk assessment and any site or accreditation requirements you work to.
Keeps clothing clean
The everyday reason people wear a coat: it takes the dust, splashes and marks so the clothes underneath do not.
Consistent presentation
A room full of matching coats reads as organised and controlled, which matters when a customer or auditor walks the floor.
Identifies people
Embroidered name and role, or colour-coded coats by department, so it is obvious who is who and who belongs where.
The range
The coats and technician garments labs, workshops and production teams most often order from us.
Lab coats
Knee-length coats in white or colour, poly-cotton or cotton-rich, with stud or button fronts. The standard choice for labs and teaching spaces.
Warehouse and stock coats
Shorter, hard-wearing coats for goods-in, stores and workshop use where a full lab coat is more than is needed.
Technician jackets
Waist-length work jackets for bench technicians, engineers and maintenance staff who need more movement than a long coat allows.
Food-industry coats
Stud-front coats designed for hygiene environments, with no external pockets above the waist. See our food production workwear page.
Branded polos underneath
The layer worn under the coat, so staff still look part of the team with the coat off. See branded polos and t-shirts.
Work trousers
Durable trousers for workshop and production technicians working below bench height. See work trousers.
Safety footwear
For workshop, plant and warehouse areas where your assessment calls for it. See safety boots.
Colour-coded coats
Different coat colours by department, shift or clearance level, so zones and roles are visible at a glance.
Visitor coats
A stock of plain or lightly branded coats kept by the door for contractors and visitors.
Choosing a coat that lasts the laundering
Lab and technician coats get washed often, sometimes hot, sometimes industrially. Fabric choice is what decides whether a coat still looks presentable after a year of that or goes grey and misshapen.
Poly-cotton for wash life
A polyester-cotton blend holds its shape and colour through frequent washing better than pure cotton, which is why most workplace coats use it. See our fabric guide.
Match the wash to the setting
If coats go through an industrial laundry or need a specific wash temperature for your setting, tell us and we will point you to fabrics that will stand up to it. See our care guide.
If your work involves flame, chemical or other specific hazards, the coat may need to meet a particular standard. That specification is for you to set from your risk assessment; we will match products to it.
Branding coats and technician kit
A coat is a large, flat, visible canvas, which makes it one of the easiest garments to brand well.
Name and role embroidery
Company logo on the chest, individual name and job title alongside it, so people and roles are identifiable on the floor. See our logo placement guide.
Embroidery or print
Embroidery suits the heavier coat fabrics and repeated washing; print can be better for fine detail or large designs. Embroidery vs print compared.

Common questions
Can we have different coloured coats for different departments?
Yes. Colour-coding coats by department, shift or area is a common request and we can supply a consistent set across several colours with matching branding.
Can you add individual names and job titles?
Yes. Alongside your logo we can embroider each wearer's name and role. Send us the list and we will set it up.
Which fabric lasts best through frequent washing?
Poly-cotton blends generally keep their shape and colour through repeated hot washing better than pure cotton. Tell us how the coats will be laundered and we will recommend accordingly.
Do your coats meet a particular safety standard?
Standard workplace coats are for cleanliness and presentation. If you need a coat certified to a flame, chemical or other standard, tell us the standard your risk assessment sets and we will match products to it.
Can we order a small number to start?
Yes, there is no minimum order, so a single lab or workshop gets the same branding and pricing structure as a large site.
