What to look for
The difference between trousers that last a season and trousers that last a year usually comes down to a handful of details.
Reinforcement where it wears
Knees, seat, hems and pocket edges take the punishment. Reinforced panels in those places are what extend the life of the garment.
Triple-stitched seams
Seams are the usual failure point. Stronger stitching on the main seams is worth paying for.
Sensible pocket layout
Pockets you can actually reach while wearing a tool belt, with a rule pocket and a secure phone pocket.
Fabric weight vs comfort
Heavier fabric lasts longer but wears warmer. Stretch panels let you drop the weight without losing movement.
A note on knee protection
If your team kneels for a meaningful part of the day, knee protection is a genuine health issue, not a comfort upgrade. Knee protection for kneeling work is covered by the standard EN 14404, which includes knee pads designed to be inserted into pockets in the trouser leg. Trousers with knee pad pockets are only protective if the pads are actually fitted, so budget for the pads as well as the trousers.

Not usually. Trousers provide the pockets, and the pads are bought separately so you can match the pad to the surfaces your team works on. Tell us the work and we will recommend a pairing.
