Groundworker workwear, built for mud, rain and hi-vis sites

Groundworkers are first on site and out in every kind of weather. We supply hi-vis, waterproof jackets and over-trousers, work trousers, fleeces, safety boots and wellingtons for groundworks and civil engineering teams, branded with your company logo.

Kit that stands up to the site

Groundworks and civils crews put clothing through the wringer: wet ground, trenches, heavy plant, early starts and long shifts in every kind of weather. Groundworkers are usually first on site, and the kit has to cope with whatever the ground and the sky throw at it. Branded kit that lasts keeps the crew comfortable, visible and looking like a professional outfit on every job.

That's why we'd always suggest buying for the conditions rather than the price tag. Kit that gives up halfway through a wet winter costs you more in replacements, and a crew that's cold and soaked by mid-morning isn't working at its best.

Seen on site

High-visibility garments help keep your team visible around moving plant and traffic, as part of your site controls.

Made to last

Hard-wearing trousers, waterproofs and fleeces built for real groundworks conditions, not a catalogue.

Professional presence

A branded crew signals a well-run contractor to principal contractors and clients walking the site.

The groundworks kit list

This is what most groundworks and civil engineering crews end up ordering, mixed to suit every role from labourer to site manager, all on a single order.

  • Hi-vis jackets, vests and trousers: class 2 and 3 garments to EN ISO 20471, plus hi-vis polos for an everyday layer that keeps the crew seen through the working day. See hi-vis workwear.
  • Waterproofs: breathable jackets and over-trousers for wet sites, trenches and exposed ground, including waterproof hi-vis. Waterproof ratings explained.
  • Work trousers: tough knee-pad and holster trousers with reinforced knees, built for kneeling in trenches and carrying tools. See work trousers.
  • Safety boots and safety wellingtons: for muddy ground, standing water and everything in between. See safety boots.
  • Fleeces, softshells and bodywarmers: warm mid-layers for cold starts that work under a hi-vis jacket.
  • Base layers: thermal tops to keep the crew comfortable through winter groundworks.
  • Headwear and accessories: beanies, caps and extras to complete a consistent branded look.

For a fuller rundown of what a crew typically needs, our groundworks site kit checklist walks through it item by item.

Layering for winter groundworks

Cold, wet mornings are where groundworks kit gets tested. Layers work better than one heavy coat: a thermal base layer, a fleece or softshell mid-layer, and a waterproof hi-vis jacket over the top. The crew can add or shed layers as the day changes, and they stay visible whatever they're wearing underneath, because the hi-vis is always the outer layer.

Getting hi-vis right on groundworks

Most sites require hi-vis, safety boots, a hard hat and gloves as standard, plus waterproofs when conditions turn wet. Your site rules set the details, and visibility requirements in particular come from your own risk assessment.

High-visibility garments are certified to EN ISO 20471, which defines classes for the amount of visible material. The class your crew needs depends on the site, the traffic and the plant involved, so base it on your risk assessment and check each garment's stated certification. Tell us the class you've decided on and we'll match products to it. Our guide to hi-vis regulations covers the classes in more detail.

Branding that lasts on site

Groundworks kit gets muddy, soaked and washed hard, so the branding method matters as much as the garment.

Big back prints on hi-vis

We print large logos on the back of hi-vis jackets so your company is seen right across the site. Logos are kept clear of the reflective tape, so the branding never gets in the way of the garment doing its job.

Embroidery on fleeces and softshells

Embroidery is hard-wearing and looks smart on fleeces and softshells, while print often suits hi-vis vests. Our embroidery vs print guide covers the trade-offs.

Your logo, done properly

Email your artwork in any format and we'll tidy it up if needed. For embroidery we convert your logo to a stitch file and send a proof to approve, then your order is embroidered or printed in-house to a consistent finish.

New starters match the crew

There's no minimum order, so you can kit out a full crew or add a single garment for a new starter whenever you need it, and it'll match what everyone else is wearing. Running an ongoing team across several jobs? See our workwear for business.

Frequently asked questions

What do groundworkers need to wear?

Most sites require hi-vis, safety boots, a hard hat and gloves, plus waterproofs for wet conditions. Your site rules set the details.

Which hi-vis class do we need?

That depends on your site and the risks around plant and traffic, so it should come from your own risk assessment. We supply garments certified to EN ISO 20471 in the common classes and can help you match products to the level you've decided.

Do you supply waterproof hi-vis?

Yes. We can brand waterproof high-visibility jackets and trousers for wet and exposed sites.

Do you supply safety wellingtons?

Yes, alongside safety boots and other PPE.

Embroidery or print for site kit?

Embroidery is hard-wearing and looks smart on fleeces and softshells, while print can suit hi-vis vests. We keep logos clear of reflective tape either way.

How quickly will we get our order?

Plain stock dispatches next day. Branded orders move fast once your proof is approved, with free UK delivery over £250 ex VAT.

Is there a minimum order?
