At a busy exhibition, visitors make quick decisions about which stands to approach. A team in matching branded clothing is easier to find, easier to approach and looks more organised. The same applies to open days, sponsored sports events, product launches and recruitment fairs. Here is how to plan it.
1. Decide the look
Most event teams wear a branded polo or shirt as the core item, with a layer for cold halls or outdoor events. Think about:
- Colour. A colour that matches your stand and stands out from the crowd. See our workwear colour guide.
- Layers. Exhibition halls can be cold during build-up and warm when busy. A gilet or hoodie covers both.
- Outdoor events. Waterproofs and headwear for open-air shows. See waterproof jackets and branded headwear.
2. Make the branding readable
At an event, people see your team from across a hall. A logo on the left chest is standard, but consider a larger back print with your company name or web address so visitors can find you again. Our logo placement guide shows the options, and embroidery vs print explains which method suits which garment.
3. Get the sizes right
Event teams often include people who do not normally wear company clothing, so collect sizes early. Free samples help when you are unsure. See our sizing guide and women's fit guide.
4. Plan the timings
Branded orders need time for artwork, proofing and decoration, so order well ahead of the event date. Build in time to check sizes on arrival and swap anything that does not fit. Ask us for the current turnaround when you request a quote.
Staff clothing and giveaways are different jobs. Clothing for your team should be good enough to wear all day and look smart in photos. If you are also giving away branded items, plan those separately so they suit the budget and quantity.
5. Think beyond one event
Good-quality branded clothing can be reused at the next show and worn back at the office. Ordering a little extra in common sizes saves a rush before your next event. With no minimum order, it is easy to top up later.
Outdoor events and stewards
If your team is helping with parking, stewarding or traffic, your event risk assessment may call for hi-vis. See hi-vis workwear and how hi-vis works.
The short version
Choose a colour that stands out, brand the back as well as the front, collect sizes early and order with time to spare. Matching clothing makes your team easy to find and gives visitors a better first impression.
